Completely renovated townhouse – Quintana Sencelles
Location and surroundings
Sencelles is only 26 kilometers from Palma and 8 kilometers from Inca. It borders well-known towns such as Binissalem and Sineu, which are also known for their rural beauty and cultural significance.
History and cultural heritage
The region around Sencelles has been inhabited for thousands of years, as archaeological sites of the Talayotic culture prove. Under Arab rule, the area was known as Canarrossa. In the 19th century, the region was hit hard by the phylloxera crisis, which almost completely destroyed viticulture. Today, however, Sencelles has once again become a center of viticulture, home to some of Mallorca's most important wineries.
An important name in Sencelles' history is Sister Francinaina Cirer (1781-1855), who is revered on the island for her healings and spiritual significance. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II and remains a symbol of Mallorcan culture.
Sights and experiences
Sencelles and its surrounding villages offer a striking picture of original Mallorcan architecture, rural traditions and nature. Special highlights include:
• Parròquia de Sant Pere: The impressive church at the entrance to the village, a landmark of the municipality.
• Windmills: The preserved windmills are a nostalgic testimony to the agricultural past.
• Planetarium of Mallorca: Just 5 kilometers away in Costitx is the planetarium, which offers fascinating shows and guided tours on Fridays and Saturdays - a highlight for astrology fans.
Sencelles is a place where history, culture and nature are in harmonious balance. Whether you want to enjoy the idyllic landscapes, the wineries or the authentic atmosphere - this municipality invites you to discover the traditional soul of Mallorca.
